Feel The Warmth

Summer is winding down. Kids are back in school or getting ready to go back to school. Everyone’s getting their school supplies ready. I used to love this time of year when I was younger (I know, I’m dorky). I loved getting new notebooks and pencils. Cool folders and pens that write thin lines in blue. In fact, I still love all that stuff. Fun!

What’s not fun is the fact that not all kids will start school with the right supplies. Their families just don’t have the extra money to support those needs. That’s unfortunate.

But, there’s something we can do to help!!!

Yes, you and me!!

The Times Herald is teaming up with Feel The Warmth, to provide school supplies to the area’s less fortunate. If you are in the area, you can drop your donations off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., until Friday at the Times Herald offices (410 Markley Street  Norristown, PA).

Feel The Warmth is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides school supplies, winter coats, and toys to the less fortunate in the Greater Philadelphia region. If you miss this donation, don’t worry – you can help out throughout the year. They have really cool ways to volunteer and donate, so check them out!

If you are not in the Philadelphia area, I am certain there are similar opportunities in your area – check around.

If you know of other opportunities in other areas, please let me know.
I’d love to include them so we can spread the word.

I want everyone to feel the same happiness I do when
I write with a newly sharpened pencil!

  1. Operation Backpack is still accepting donations in South Jersey! Check the following link, and read carefully to see which locations haven’t closed their donation period. Collingswood has two open drop-off locations, and the Cherry Hill Mall has at least two as well.

I, too, LOVE new school supplies and have made three trips to Staples in the last two days. LOL
