These Things Annoy Me

Oh yeah, it’s time to rant about what’s annoying me. Here’s my top three of the week:

1. Up My Butt

I consider myself a pretty good driver. Sometimes, I may have a lot on my mind and I may not be concentrating 100% on the ride. The guy behind me may get annoyed and want me to change lanes. No problem. I get it – I’m out.

But, dude, give me a minute. I got you. I’ve got my blinker on. I’m trying to get over. I’m trying to get you on your way. You don’t have to drive on my bumper. Now, you’re just out to annoy me. Well played.

2. Coupons

Yes, I hate coupons. They completely annoy me. I normally don’t bother with them at all…gasp! The whole coupon process is ridiculous. My husband on the other hand loves coupons. He loves to cut them out and he really uses them!

Unfortunately, he rarely does the shopping. Although, if he did, we would totally be on Extreme Couponing. You know, where they buy $1,000 worth of stuff for $1. That would be us.

But, it’s up to me. Even with him cutting them out for me, I still can’t make it work. I usually just forget to even bring them. When I do remember, I hate trying to figure out if the brand with the coupon is cheaper than the brand without the coupon. Oh, and how about when you have to buy multiple things to get the deal. Then after I go to all the trouble, I realize the coupon is expired! AAHHHH!!!!

I just don’t have it in me. Coupons are annoying, without a doubt!

3. Camp Drop-off / Pick-up

My daughter goes to summer camp. The parking lot is a mad house. I’m used to this but lately, it’s out of hand. There are lines of cars trying to find a space. I’m actually thinking of leaving like 15 minutes early just to be able to get a spot. What’s going on? I’m not sure. But it is making me CRAZY annoyed!

Do you find these things annoying?
What’s annoying you? I really want to know!

Get Mad, Then Get Over It

Let’s not sugar coat it, I’m annoyed. Here’s my top three:

1. Front Loaders

I have a front loading washing machine. I should be thrilled, right? Wrong. I’m not. I hate it. I know lots of people love their front loaders but I don’t. I really do hate it.

First, I hate how difficult it is to move my laundry from the washer to dryer.

Second, I hate that once it starts I can’t throw in one extra piece of clothing that I missed before I started the load.

Third, I hate that I can’t soak clothes.

And finally, I hate that it smells. And, don’t tell me Tide has this product that you can use to make it smell better. I don’t want to hear that. It’s a washing machine. It constantly has soap in it – why should it smell? I have to keep the door open all the time and even that doesn’t always work!!!

I hate that thing…it annoys me every time I walk into that laundry room!!!

2. Go around

This one has to do with something I’m annoyed with often, driving. So, the other day I’m driving and there are two cars in front of me. The first car is turning right into a store. They are semi in the shoulder (something I’ve been annoyed with in the past, just get in the shoulder and turn) but this time, I’m annoyed about the person right in front of me – who just has to go around the first guy.

But do they? No! They wait and wait. Just go around them already!! I’m sitting there just hanging out waiting for the first guy to s-l-o-w-l-y turn so the second guy can mooove forward, already! I’m annoyed!!

3. Thank You

Saying thank you is just a common courtesy. I wish people were more generous with saying thank you. It’s not that hard, really. If someone holds the door for you, say thank you. If someone acknowledges you online, it’s not hard to give a quick thanks. How about someone who helps you out in any way – give it up – it’s only a thank you and it means a lot. At least to me, it does.

If You Can’t Annoy Somebody…

Here are the things that I’ve been annoyed by lately…

1. Service

Okay, so, I have a Diet Coke addiction. But it gets worse. I don’t just like any, old Diet Coke. I like fountain Diet Coke. Only fountain Diet Coke. Don’t judge me!

Anyway, I’ve been good at limiting myself to one per day. Again, don’t judge me – that’s a big step. Here’s what annoyed me the other day. I go into McDonald’s for my one DC of the day. I order it (which I think they think I’m crazy because that’s all I get)…one medium drink. The girl takes my money and then walks away. Without giving me my cup. She doesn’t even have to get the actual soda, I have to do that myself, which if fine. But, she does have to give me the cup.

Now she goes off and gets two other people their orders filled. And, she will not look up. I mean I’ve never seen such concentration. I can not get her attention. Finally, she comes back and I ask for my cup. Then she just hands it to me, like no big deal!

I know it’s not really that big of a deal but come on, give me my cup already – I want my DC!!!!

2. Grass

Why do people and landscapers blow mowed grass clippings into the street. This annoys me!!!

It is just going to blow all over the place, probably right back to where they just blew it off. Also, it looks like junk, all covering the street in front of the house. Also, when I’m driving by, I don’t want your grass clippings blowing in my window.

What ever happened to bagging or composting your grass clippings???

3. Loud Talkers

The other day I went to lunch with my husband. We sat at the outside area of the restaurant. Right next to us were two men. Middle aged men, who obviously think they are God’s gift to the earth and all of us who live on the earth. Why?

Because they were talking so loudly. So that everyone could hear their conversation. And, they were discussing kid’s baseball. You know these guys, right? The ones who wanted to be professional baseball players but couldn’t make it. So their only option is to relive their baseball “careers” through the younger generation.

What I couldn’t believe is they were using kid’s first and last names, talking about how badly they play, talking about what pains the kid’s parents are, on and on and on. Completely inappropriate and…completely annoying!!!

Love, Love, Love…3 Things Making My Week

Last week, I shared the things annoying me. Since I want balance in my life…

Side note: When I took French in high school my favorite word was équilibrer (kind of sounds like eek-a-lib-ray, but you know with a really cool French accent). It means balance.

I wanted to share a few things I’m loving!

1. Heated carpet

That’s right – you heard it…a heated carpet. I am forever cold, even when everyone thinks it’s pretty warm. Not to mention the main room in our house is coldest. Even when the temperature outside is moderate, that room is cold. I mean you can be wearing short sleeves outside and when you come in you’ll need a sweater. Okay, okay, you get it.

Well, my husband found this heated carpet that sits under our area rug. You can turn it on high or low. Let me just tell you, it’s amazing! I sit on the floor all the time…it keeps me so warm. It works especially well for us because I can just have the carpet on and we don’t have to worry about turning on the heat full blast.

I LOVE that thing. Really, I’m not kidding. (Oh, and I love my husband for finding it and buying it for me!)

2. Spring clothes

It’s spring. And all kinds of new clothes are in the stores. I love new spring clothes. I mean, I love all new clothes, don’t get me wrong. But, spring clothes are fabulous. They are so pretty and light and well, fabulous.

It’s like a breath of fresh air into your wardrobe. Don’t even get me started on how cute the shoes are (and I’m not even a “shoe girl”). The shoes are so flirty and you get to show off your pretty toes. I’m ready to kiss that black goodbye and jump into some tangerine!

3. Sleeping

Okay, I do love sleeping but this time it’s about Leah. One of my favorite things is going into Leah’s room right before I go to bed to check on her. She has a nightlight (which could probably light up a small country) so I can see her.

She looks so beautiful and peaceful and perfect. Of course, seeing her asleep is awesome on so many levels. But there is such a sense of calmness as I stand there for a few seconds watching her. Just sheer happiness. I love it.

Can you relate?

Loving…Top Three of the Week

Last week, I did a post about the top three things that were annoying me during the week. Just so you don’t think I’m always complaining, I wanted to do a post on the top things I’m loving this week!

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’ve been annoyed but wanted you to have a little sugar too! So here goes:

1. Buds

Nope, not the beer…daffodil buds. I love when I start to see the little green sprigs coming up. It’s usually still pretty cold when they first come out and I’m worried they’re confused and not going to make it.

But, they brave the continued cold and then little yellow buds show. Amazing. Before you know it – beautiful, yellow daffodils are in bunches all over the place.

I love it – spring is on its way!

2. Imagination

I love watching kids play when they use their imagination. My kids, especially my oldest (now 19) and my youngest (only 3), love(d) this type of play.

My favorite is when they think nobody is watching and they are full-on involved with little people or cars or anything, conducting an entire story! It’s adorable. My son used to play behind our couch. My daughter now asks us to leave the playroom if she wants to do it.

I love standing close by and listening.

3. Trippin’

Getting ready for a trip is one of my favorite things. I love it! I have loved it since I was a little girl. We used to keep our suitcases in the attic. I always begged to climb up and and get those hard-cover, yellow suitcases down. I’d open them and smell them – weird, right? But they had this great smell, it reminded me of the fantastic time we were about to have.

The same holds true today – not the smell so much but the feelings. I love thinking about what to pack, getting it ready, packing it, etc. It’s stressful, yes, but fun too.

It makes me so excited about the adventure that’s about to come my way!
